When marking the beginning of a new year, we think to ourselves what’s a goal that we want to accomplish this year? These personal goals are our new years resolutions. Many of us however, find ourselves not following through with our resolutions, as our brains are designed to give greater value to immediate rewards versus delayed rewards like our new years resolutions.
It was found that women have more success in completing their resolutions when they made them public and found support from friends and family. As well, men are more successful when their goals are S.M.A.R.T (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, time-based goals).
So what are some ways in which we can strategize our minds to accomplish our resolutions? In the clip below, Dr.Richard Bandler, the co creator of NLP (Neuro Linguistic Programming) explains why we don’t follow through with our resolutions and some tips on how we can redirect and program our mind to overcome and accomplish our resolutions.
