Diving waters around Hornby Island are known for an array of marine life including Californian and Steller’s sea lions which feed on herring in the winter. The waters also include Giant Pacific octopus, wolf eels and rock fish. British Columbia is also widely recognized as a top dive destination in North America.

Check out this freediving video with a group of angry (read cute) sea lions off of Hornby Island:

  • Colony – on land
  • Raft – in water
  • Rookery – during breeding seasons
