Vancouver’s New Weekly Hip-Hop Night Kicks Off with ONYX

Launching August 21st at the Biltmore Cabaret, Now & Then Thursdays promises a stacked night of live performances, street dance, and DJs spinning everything from the hottest new tracks to the classics you grew up on. Think R&B, dancehall, and hip-hop, all under one roof.

What’s the Vibe?

The concept is simple but powerful: celebrate today’s best sounds while honouring the music that paved the way. Every Thursday, you’ll get a mix of established artists, emerging talent, and local music community favourites.

The night will feature:

  • Artist performances (from headliners to fresh faces)

  • ICON’s Hip-Hop Cypher — raw, unfiltered freestyle energy

  • The 11th Hour Street Dance Cypher hosted by BGirl Emma

  • DJs Seko (The Freshest) & Des (HUSH) keeping the floor moving

And for the launch? They’re coming in heavy. Hip-hop legends ONYX, the New York crew behind the ‘90s anthem Slam, will headline opening night. Known for their high-energy shows and gritty delivery, they’re the perfect act to set the tone for a night that blends nostalgia with what’s next.

Hosted by the legendary DJ Flipout, this isn’t just a concert, it’s a full-on cultural experience you won’t find anywhere else in the city right now.

Why This Night Matters for Vancouver

While Vancouver has plenty of live music, a dedicated weekly event focused on R&B, dancehall, and hip-hop — especially one mixing performance, dance, and cyphers — is rare. Now & Then Thursdays is built for the community that craves both the throwbacks and the future sounds.

It’s about bringing artists, dancers, and DJs together, and giving the city a space where the scene can grow week after week.
