Vancouver Whitecaps, Province & UBC To Build National Soccer Centre

UBC – you got big things coming!

The Vancouver Whitecaps have reveled plans to build a national soccer development centre at the UBC campus in Vancouver.

The project will run approximately $32 million and feature a brand new field-house serving five new, upgraded training fields. As far as who’s paying what:

  • The Whitecaps -$15 million
  • BC Government – $14.5 million + a potential $3million to resurface the turf field in about 10 years.

The first phase of the project is expected to be completed around March 2013 at which point the Whitecaps are expected to move in.

The facility will also be used for the FIFA Women’s World Cup in 2015!
