Vancouver To Sell Rain Barrels On May 7

rain barrel sale

If you missed the chance to purchase a rain barrel earlier this year, it’s fortunately not too late!

Numerous cities across the 604 are selling residents rain barrels for $51 in anticipation of the warm summer months ahead.

For those unfamiliar with rain barrels, the idea behind it is genius and can potentially save you a lot of money.

Essentially, rain barrels are used to collect and store rainwater. The water harvested can then be used for a variety of purposes including watering the lawn/plants, washing vehicles, and even topping off pools.

This ultimately helps reduce your demand for water and can aid in reducing your monthly bill.

With stage 3 water restrictions last year, all of those options above were not permitted and ultimately a headache for residents with many getting fined. Last month was also the warmest April recorded in Vancouver, which leads us to assume we have a dry summer ahead.

Where to get your rain barrel:

  • May 7, 10:00am to 3:00pm: North and West Vancouver – Ambleside Park
  • May 8, 9:00am to 3:00pm: Langley – Willowbrook Shopping Centre at the intersection of Fraser Highway and Highway 10

Prices may vary in each municipality.
