Nothing beats Vancouver in the summer, and with the growing number of patios across the city, summer 2016 is sure to provide locals and tourists alike a plethora of places to relax throughout the day.

With the success of past pilot projects, the City of Vancouver has once again began accepting applications from restaurant owners to extend their patio hours to 1:00 am from now through October.

According to the city, there are over 300 patios around the city eligible for the extension, given their insurance is up to date and they’ve had no noise complaints on file within the last 12 months.

The businesses will be subject to the conditions of their liquor permit.

In 2015, the city approved 200 applications to keep patio hours open later than usual.

The city initially launched their patio hour extension program in 2013, allowing restaurants to serve patio customers to 12:00 midnight. The pilot project proved to be successful and helped enliven the city’s streets and nightlife.
