Chocolate lovers in the 604 will be happy to learn they won’t have to fly out to Switzerland for first class chocolate.
Mermaid’s Choice, a chocolate bar made in Vancouver has earned the “Top Chocolate Bar” title at the International Chocolate Salon 2014. The bar beat out all worldwide entries and tied for first place with Tranquilidad Bolivia 72%, a chocolate bar from New South Wales Zokoko.
Mermaid’s Choice also took home awards for “Best Ingredient Combinations” and “Best Texture.” It also won silver for “Best Mixed Chocolate Bar” and “Best Taste.”
The worlds top chocolate bar is made from fleur de sel, a hint of rosemary, and a blend of burnt caramel. It’s 70% cacao and roughly the size of an iPod. The 200 calorie bar retails for 6.25. You can find it at Mink Chocolates, located at 863 West Hastings. There is also a Surrey location at Morgan Crossing, 15775 Croydon Drive.
The competition took place in San Francisco, California and had 14 judges rank the worlds top bars.
