Thanks to Design and Lifestyle magazine, Wallpaper, Vancouver’s very own UBC Pharmaceutical Sciences Building has bestowed their position of ‘Best Lab’ for 2013.
A few key phrases of the buildings description that stuck out when Wallpaper chose UBC for this award were:
- pays hommage to the debt science owes to nature
- instantly engaging
- striking
- crowd-pleasing piece of controlled drama
The building opened just last fall, on September 18, 2012. It was designed by Montreal’s Saucier + Perrotte Architectes and Vancouver’s Highes Condon Marier Architects. The building itself is a quarter-million square feet, and has been recognized with a Canadian Architect Award of Excellence in 2012.
