TransLink Looks To Expand Richmond, Delta & Tsawwassen Transit

TransLink’s Southwest Area Transportation Plan (SWATP) is aimed at improving public transit service and infrastructure by including stakeholder and public consultation.

Richmond’s last public transit review was 16 years ago and prompted the B-line bus service to downtown Vancouver. Since then the Canada Line has been introduced but the Southwest sub-region’s population is still expected to grow.

The transportation network review of Richmond, Delta, Tsawwassen and other areas has a focus on “addressing aspects of cycling, walking, driving and goods movement” according to TransLink.

Research will also be conducted for travel patterns and land use.  Public feedback is welcomed through the SWATP survey open until May 6th 2016.

The SWATP will help to prioritize community needs and support the regional transportation plans including TransLink’s Regional Transportation Strategy and the Mayors’ Council Transportation and Transit Plan.
