Top Spots To Celebrate National Macaron Day In Vancouver

macaron day vancouver

The 5th annual Macaron Day is coming up on March 20th and several shops in Vancouver will be participating in the national event by supporting local charities and offering special deals on the mouth-watering confections.

Macaron Day originated in France and was called “le jour du macaron.” The day is meant for celebrating the vibrant and decadent bite-sized treats.

Here’s a list of some of the top spots participating in Macaron Day in Vancouver:

Faubourg

All of Faubourg’s three locations will be participating in the event. The shop will offer their signature Parisian-style macarons for $1 each (half off the regular price), and they will match every dollar of macaron sales with proceeds benefitting the BC Cancer Foundation.

Faubourg is located in Kerrisdale Village (2156 West 41st), Downtown (769 Hornby Street), and in West Vancouver (792 Main Street).

Thierry Chocolaterie Patisserie Cafe

A new special macaron will be available only on March 20th at Thierry (1059 Alberni Street).

The pina colada flavour mixes coconut with pineapple jam and a rum buttercream. A portion of the macaron sales will be donated to St. Paul’s Hospital.

French Made Baking

The macaron shop will be celebrating this special day at their Mount Pleasant café (81 Kingsway) and at the Atelier kitchen in South Vancouver.

The café will give guests a free mini macaron to sample and there will be lots of other flavours to try out as well. They will have a donation jar where customers are encouraged to donate, with a percentage of the proceeds going to the BC Children’s Hospital Foundation.

At the Atelier kitchen, a Chef will be teaching the secrets to making the perfect macaron on March 19th and 20th. The 2.5 hour class is limited to 7 students on each day and they will take home with them a macaron-making kit and the macarons made during class.

The cost is $110, with 25% of the proceeds going to the charity.

Be sure to check out some other shops across the city that will likely be participating in Macaron Day as well, such as Bel Café, Soirette and East Van Sweets.
