Following the success of last summer’s inaugural festival, EMV offers a remarkable 14 concerts. Not to mention, it features guest artists from all over the world. Friday, August 11th, 2017 sees the conclusion of this year’s festival.

Basketball | World Indigenous Basketball Challenge 2017
The challenge will see four days of world-class basketball. 16 Indigenous men’s teams and 8 Indigenous women’s teams will compete from all over the globe compete. From Wednesday, August 9th – Saturday, August 12th, 2017, games begin at 8:00 a.m. daily.
Free yoga | Free Yoga At Kits Beach + Riley Park
The daily free yoga classes are organized by Mat Collective. Not to mention, they will feature 1-3 classes each day with a variety of different levels.
Outdoor Shopping | Night Markets
The Illumination Night Market, Richmond Night Market, and North Vancouver Shipyards Night Market are all now open. In addition, Fridays on Front, a brand new weekly night market experience in Downtown New West is now open. Fridays on Front will run every Friday evening from 5:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. for eight consecutive weeks on the 600-block of Front Street.
Interactive model | OH! Vancouver 2017
There’s a new interactive installation in Vancouver that allows you to control the colours of the city’s skyline. OH! is a small model of Science World that allows you to control the Vancouver monument. It’s open this Friday, August 11th and Saturday, August 12th, 2017. It’s available to use from 9:00 p.m. – 11:00 p.m. each evening.
Canadian television icon George Stroumboulopoulos and renowned scientist Bill Nye come to the Orpheum Theatre on Friday, August 11th, 2017. The evening begins at 8:00 p.m. and goes until 10:00 p.m. Doors will open at 7:00 p.m. The two will exchange dialogue on a range of topics.

Coquitlam Summer Concert Series takes place on Friday, August 11th, 2017. Each concert will take place from 7:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. Guests can bring their own picnic or enjoy the on-site food trucks.
The Abbotsford International Airshow is back this week for more daunting tricks from Friday, August 11th – Sunday, August 13th, 2017. The annual aviation festival provides spectators an opportunity to watch one of the finest aerobatic performances in the world. Tickets range from $13 – $42.

Nature | Bees and Blueberries Festival 2017
There is no event as unique to the Greater Vancouver area as Dr. Bee’s Bees and Blueberries Festival. It takes place on Saturday, August 12th and Saturday, August 13th, 2017. It will be held at the Honeyland Canada farm in Pitt Meadows. This will be a unique local event that brings together a community with the shared value of bee wellness and charity.
Ships | Richmond Maritime Festival 2017
The 14th annual Richmond Maritime Festival returns to beautiful Steveston on Saturday, August 12th and Sunday, August 13th, 2017. The festival is free to the public and runs from 11:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. on the Saturday and 11:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. on the Sunday. It features a wooden boat festival within the site, visual artists, puppets, storytellers, and much more.
B.C.’s Bif Naked headlines Coquitlam’s Kaleidoscope Arts Festival on Saturday, August 12th at Town Centre Park. Free to the public, the festival runs from 2:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. and offers a full slate of live entertainment. Music festival | Burnaby Blues + Root Festival 2017
