Environment Canada has announced British Columbia’s south coast is in for a wild wet week.
A rainfall warning was issued Monday morning about an ‘incredible series of storms’ preparing to hit the 604, Fraser Valley, Vancouver Island, and the Sunshine Coast. There is also the possibility of flash floods and washouts in specific areas.
“A subtropically-influenced airstream will bombard the mountains of Vancouver Island and the Lower Mainland from today through Thursday morning. High rainfall rates and a prolonged period of rainy weather will create an extraordinary 3 to 4 day rain event.” says Environment Canada in a press release.
Drivers are encouraged to keep an eye out for pooling waters and flooding. Residents near culverts, creeks, and rivers are warned about potential washouts.
