Hazardous winter conditions are expected on Thursday according to the latest weather warning by Environment Canada.

The forecast is calling for rain and freezing rain in the morning. The freezing rain will change to rain in the afternoon as temperatures rise above freezing.

Areas further north will continue to receive heavy snow this morning along with the risk of freezing rain. Further snowfall accumulations of 10 to 20 cm are expected. The snow is forecast to finally change to rain this afternoon. In addition, significant rainfalls of 20 to 30 mm are expected today after the switch over to rain.

As most can expect, the rapid accumulation of snow and rain will likely lead to difficult travel conditions. Surfaces including roads, walkways, highways, and parking lots may become icy and slippery.

In addition, localized flooding in low-lying areas is possible.
