Squamish Music Festival 2014 Seeking Local Talent

Squamish Music Festival 2015

Artists who have dreamed of performing in front of 35,000 music fans will finally get their chance in the Rising Stars talent competition. Virgin Mobile Presents Squamish Valley Music Festival and Galaxie are giving Canadian musicians the opportunity to win $3,000 cash and the chance to be part of the most anticipated music event of the summer.

“We are looking for the very best undiscovered talent in Canada,” says Paul Runnals, Executive Producer of the Festival and judge for Rising Stars. “This year’s Festival has an exceptional lineup of world-renowned performers and we are looking for more excellent talent to add to our event.”

To enter Rising Stars, bands must upload an MP3 or video to http://risingstar.strutta.com. Once public voting begins, fans can then vote for their favourite artist (voting is limited to one vote per day). After the public provides their feedback, a panel of judges will decide the winner.

The Rising Stars winner will not only have the once in a lifetime opportunity to play at the Festival, but will also take home $3,000 cash, as well as an Artist Festival Pass, four weekend passes for band members to bring their most dedicated fans, and camping for the weekend.

Rising Star will be accepting application now through June 30. Public voting will be open July 1 – July 15 and the winner will be announced July 21.

Rising Stars Judges:

  • Paul Runnals – Executive Producer of Squamish Valley Music Festival
  • Erik Hoffman – Senior Vice President of Talent for Live Nation Canada
  • Rob Calder – Co-owner of Boompa Productions and founder of Secret Study
  • Mike Usinger – Music Editor for the Georgia Straight
  • Zachary Monson – Programmer for Galaxie
  • Jeffrey Remedios – Founder of Arts & Crafts

The 2014 Squamish Valley Music Festival, the highly-anticipated and largest outdoor music festival in Canada, will take place at the Logger Sports Grounds and Centennial Fields in Squamish, British Columbia, August 8, 9 & 10, 2014 and will feature over 70 performers including headliners Bruno Mars, Arcade Fire and EMINEM.
