The rankings have been split into three categories:

Medical/Doctoral: The Medical Doctoral category includes some of the largest universities in the country. Institutions in this category have a broad range of Ph.D. programs and research, as well as medical schools.

Comprehensive: Universities in this category conduct a significant amount of research and offer a wide range of undergraduate, graduate, and professional programs

Primarily Undergraduate: Universities in this category are generally smaller in size and offer fewer graduate programs.

The University of British Columbia (UBC) ranked no.3 overall in the Medical/Doctoral category, right behind McGill and the University of Toronto.

Simon Fraser University (SFU)  claimed the no.1 spot for the comprehensive category for its third straight year. The University of Victoria also made the list at no.3.

For the second year in a row, The University of Northern B.C. (UNBC) was ranked the best in the primarily undergraduate category.
