Second Whale Within a Year Washes Up Dead On BC Shores [Pictures]

A whale surfaced just west of Vancouver Island Wednesday March 27th in what seems to be yet another mysterious death. Just last July, a whale washed up on the shores of White Rock beach with several deep cuts around its tail, and a fishing line that was wrapped around its body.

Employees of a Vancouver Island salmon farm are now trying to figure out why a dead humpback whale ended up floating near some of the company’s nets. One employee is speculating the sea-creature has been dead for some time which will be confirmed this Friday with a necropsy.

The animal’s carcass has been towed to a nearby beach, and Jensen says a necropsy will likely take place Friday.
