Surrey has a lot of free community events each year, and one of the most promising is the annual Party for the Planet.
Aligned with Earth Day, Party for the Planet is a day-long celebration of Surrey’s commitment to environment and dedication to building a sustainable future. The 2016 event will take place on April 23 at City Hall Plaza, and is expected to draw 20,000 people.
One of the event’s main attractions will be live entertainment, which will be headlined by 2016 JUNO nominee Scott Helman. The “Bungalow” singer will be joined by a wide lineup of talent including singer-songwriter, guitarist and record producer Vince Vaccaro; family entertainers Bobs & LoLo; Music with Marnie; Franklin the Turtle and, new for 2016, “Science Surprise Show” by Science World on the Road.
In addition to the concert, attendees can look forward to numerous attractions including a rock-climbing wall, farmers’ market, a bike powered smoothie stop, digital photo booth, along with environmental themed activities and craft stations.
Surrey’s Party for the Planet is the largest Earth Day celebration in British Columbia.
