RCMP Have Identified Man Who Assaulted Female Library Employee In Richmond

Earlier this week, a man was caught on camera kicking a female employee at the Richmond Public Library. Richmond RCMP immediately launched an investigation and have found the suspect allegedly responsible for the attack.

The incident took place on the afternoon of February 28 during a community event that was discussing a housing project for the homeless.

Shortly before 5:30 p.m., a male suspect is alleged to have kicked a staff member, knocking her to the ground. The suspect fled on foot and is expected to be at large. Despite being identified, the RCMP have not confirmed the male has been arrested.

The victim, a woman in her early 60s, was not seriously injured.

“This was an isolated incident that was not racially or ethnically motivated,” says Richmond RCMP Cpl. Dennis Hwang.

Anyone who has video footage or may have witnessed the incident is reminded that they may be contacted by police.
