PNE Calls For New Vendors For 2016 Fair

The PNE has developed a well-known reputation for wacky and creative foods, and this past summer was no exception. To continue delivering its flavourful delights, the Pacific National Exhibition is re-issuing a call for vendors, and inviting new vendors for the 2016 Fair at the PNE.

While the fair receives hundreds of annual submissions from vendors, their criteria seems to stay the same: something exciting and innovative.

“The Fair at the PNE is one of BC’s most beloved events and we are always looking for exciting and innovative products for our guests to enjoy,” says PNE Vice President of Sales, Peter Male. “This past year, The Fair received an incredible number of submissions and resulted in some of the most interesting and talked about aspects of The Fair. We invite any vendor with a creative food item or product to apply.”

Guests at The Fair at the PNE consistently rank food as one of the most important ‘Fair experiences’ each year. Across North America, The PNE is recognized for the diversity of its food vendors, offering wacky creations, non-traditional food items and dishes from across the world. Along with its share of mini donuts and cotton candy stands, the PNE also has a range of healthy options for guests including fresh fruits and salads, healthy juices and wraps as well as freshly grown vegetables from its own Market Fresh garden.

Submissions will be evaluated on a number of criteria:

  • Uniqueness of food offering
  • Presentation and quality of food
  • Level of high volume food vending experience (could be restaurant)
  • Use of locally sourced products
  • Sustainable business practices

One of the largest annual food selling events in Canada, in 2015 food concessionaires at the Fair at the PNE sold:

  • 2,000,000  mini donuts
  • 8,000 Crazy Dogs
  • 7,800 samosas
  • 3,000 deep fried Mars bars
  • 30,000 corn dogs sold
  • 12,500 cobs of corn
