If your plans require crossing the Pattullo Bridge this weekend – you may want to plan an alternate route.
This weekend from 9 pm on Friday July 14th to 5 am on Monday July 17th, the Pattullo Bridge will be closed for some major repairs.
Last winter the bridge underwent reconstruction on numerous potholes, and therefore the closure is necessary in order to repair the underlying concrete deck.

Drivers may use the Port Mann or Alex Fraser Bridges while the construction takes place over the weekend.
Emergency vehicles, pedestrians and cyclists will still be able to use the bridge during the scheduled closure.
Having outlived its design by over 30 years, the 80-year-old New Westminster bridge requires a fair amount of maintenance in order to meet safety regulations.
Over 80,000 cars cross the bridge on a typical weekday, and Translink is currently completing the proposal for a preliminary bridge design. The new construction could begin as early as 2019 once the funding is secured for the project.
The bridge has already been closed numerous times this year in order to facilitate repairs.
