Paragon Gaming (who’s previous Casino proposal was rejected) has ultimately created a new deal with BC Place that would allow them to build a casino with a 99-year lease on BC Place’s property. Agreements between Paragon and BC Place have been signed which would allow for the building of a small casino and hotel.
However, NDP leader Adrian Dix commented the other day that his party might consider selling BC Place they were to win in the upcoming election. Even though, if sold, BC Place’s new owner would have to agree to agreements made prior as any agreement made would bind to the future owner of the facility.
BC Premiere Christy Clark also noted that selling BC Place would cause uncertainty and delays in the casino deal. Dix and his party claim that if they win, the future of BC Place and the casinos part in it, would be reviewed in the future.
Paragon is trying to move ahead, despite political conflicts.
