Must See This Summer: Iona Beach

For those of you who are looking for a new area this summer to go for a bike ride, walk or just take in the beauty of mother nature, we think we found the perfect spot for you!

Iona Beach in Richmond is a great place to check out, it’s pretty quiet, very calm and relaxing. The other day we felt like going for a walk and came across Iona Beach.

There’s a really cool trail that’s 4.5 km long for cycling, jogging or walking and the trail is surrounded by water on both sides, giving you a breathtaking view as you look either way. Further down they have markers on the side of the trail informing you how many km’s you’ve traveled, which makes it convenient for those who keeping track of their run or cycle ride.

Along the way there are two really neat looking benches that are completely covered just in case it’s raining.

Once you get to the end of the trail, there’s a lookout you can climb, and if you choose to walk this far, it’s definitely worth it! The view is absolutely amazing. To your left you can watch airplanes take off from YVR, and to the right you can see mountains, while being surrounded by the waters where the Fraser River meets the Straight of Georgia!

For directions, Go towards Vancouver International Airport and get onto Grant McConachie Way. Follow Grant McConachie Way westward to Templeton Street and then turn right (north) onto Templeton Street. Follow Templeton Street as it turns left (west) and becomes Ferguson Road. Follow Ferguson Road westward to the end; it goes directly to Iona Beach Regional Park.

It’s a really breathtaking place that we think you should all check out sometime this summer! Check out some photos we took below!
