In one of their most exciting announcements to date, Translink has stated that Morgan Freeman will make announcements on local SkyTrains and buses.
Starting today, Metro Vancouver riders may use contactless Visa and Mastercard credit cards and Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Samsung Pay instead of Compass Cards. As part of the new feature’s rollout, Freeman welcomes riders to tap their Visa credit card.
“Good news, Vancouver! Starting today, you can now tap your Visa to go anywhere TransLink takes you.”
Freeman will be making a series on announcements on local bus routes regarding rider etiquette.
- “Hello transit riders, remember what your mom used to say: please keep your feet off the furniture.”
- “Hello bus riders, this is a smoke-free bus, but I’m sure you already knew that… Have a great day.”
- “Hello bus riders, please move to the back of the bus.”
- “Hello transit riders, please leave your seat for the elderly and pregnant women.”

People can listen to his charismatic delivery on six bus routes and at select SkyTrain stations between June 4 to July 29; however, the bus routes have yet to be announced.
Translink recently introduced a small fleet of double decker buses on Metro Vancouver routes to combat a rise in commuter traffic. In addition, the transit provider is increasing the number of SkyTrain and Canada Line Cars to ease congestion.
