Manny Malhotra Out For The Season & Playoffs

Bad news for the Canucks fans, Manny Malhotra will miss the remainder of the regular season and the playoffs after suffering a serious eye injury last week. He had surgery, but the Canucks made the decision after meeting with the team’s doctors and specialists. Malhotra was hit by a puck that deflected off a stick during a game last week against Colorado. He immediately covered his left eye and headed to the locker room, leaving a trail of blood behind him. He didn’t break any orbital bones but his vision was affected.

The veteran joined the Canucks last summer signing a three year contract worth $7.5 million. This season he’s contributed 11 goals and 19 assists while proving himself as one of the leagues best face off players.

Vigneault:
“I think to some extent that this could be a good rallying point for the guys. Obviously, he’s not here right now and we have to find a way — like we’ve found all year long when we’ve had guys that have been out — to continue to win.”
