West Vancouver Police are conducting an internal review after a YouTube video showing a police vehicle driving into an oncoming lane to block longboarders began making its rounds on social media.
The incident took place last week when 3 longboarders were traveling down Finch Hill Road in West Vancouver at high speeds and were suddenly forced to swerve off the road after a police vehicle appeared to cut them off. This leads to the longboarders getting into an argument with the police officer.
Everything up until this point was recorded on a GoPro camera on uploaded to YouTube. In just two days the video has racked up 250,000 views.
 “West Vancouver Police are aware of concerns being expressed via social media regarding the videotaped interaction between a WVPD officer and longboarders on Finch Hill Road in West Vancouver last week. The interaction is now under an internal review to determine whether all WVPD policies and guidelines were properly followed and whether any further action is warranted in connection with this occurrence,”Â
It’s important to note, longboarding is banned in West Vancouver.
