It all began in the 1950s when Doris Needham, an artist in Revelstoke, made these quirky little figurines from cement. They were all crafted by hand without the use of molds or forms. She wanted to display her artwork somewhere unique but isolated, which led her to the forest between Revelstoke and Sicamous.

The endeavor became a retirement project between her and her husband Ernest. The duo eventually bought the property, which was originally leased from the Crown.

They cleared the trails by hand, using only shovels, picks and a crosscut saw. They also built the “Candy Cane” house where they would live.

The ‘Enchanted Forest’ turned a dream into reality on July 1st, 1960, when it first opened to the public.

By 1970, an astounding one million people had visited the attraction.

After such success, the Needham’s realized the retirement project had become a little more than they could handle.

They sold their beloved property, but it continues to be a family-operated business meant to inspire.

Today, it still has Needham’s unique figures nestled throughout, but also: a castle, dungeon and tree house that rises 50-feet into the forest canopy.

It’s filled with many beloved characters, including Goldilocks and the Three Bears, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs, The Three Little Pigs, Winnie The Pooh, and Captain Hook.

Wander through the unique world of nursery rhymes, magic, and beautiful artwork.
