John Lennon’s Iconic Rolls-Royce Is Back In BC

John Lennon’s famous Rolls-Royce decorated in a medley of colors is on display at the royal BC museum in Victoria.  The car was donated to the museum after its display at the expo of 86’ in Vancouver by Canadian business mogul and billionaire Jim Pattison.

At the time with 36 thousand miles, it was thought to be the most expensive car in the world. The historic car was the one the Beatles rode when they received their medals from Queen Elizabeth at Buckingham palace.

Although it was black at the time, Lennon re-decorated it with a custom Romany gypsy style paint job. Lennon also had the back seat turned into a double bed in 1966 along with blacked out windows which made him the first person in England to have that feature on a car.

Today the car is said to be in working condition fifty years later. Royal B.C museum CEO Professor Jack Lohman told CBC the Lennon’s Rolls Royce is one of the most iconic items connecting the expo of 86’ and the Beatles band that fascinated and entertained the world.

A team of twelve museum employees are responsible for the car’s upkeep.

Visitors can find the 1965 Rolls-Royce V touring Limousine on display in the main lobby.
