Jian Ghomeshi Found Not Guilty, Acquitted On All Charges

After weeks of deliberation in Jian Ghomeshi’s trial, Judge William Horkins announced his ruling this morning in the Ontario Court of Justice, acquitting Ghomeshi on all charges.

Ghomeshi, 48, pleaded not guilty to all charges, including four counts of sexual assault and one count of overcome resistance by choking. All assaults allegedly occurred between 2002 and 2003.

During his ruling, Judge Horkins pointed out inconsistencies in the stories of all three complainants, and also undermined their credibility.

Demonstrators outside of the courthouse, including some from Vancouver, didn’t take the news lightly, and demanded justice for the sexual assault survivors. Following the decision, police reportedly had to tame some of the demonstrators, and even made arrests.

More protests are planned across Canada today.
