Jaws of Life Save New West Man Who Fell In And Trapped Himself In A Donation Bin

Jaws of Life Save New West Man Who Fell In And Trapped Himself In A Donation Bin - Recall donation bin

For the second time in six months, a local man has fallen in and trapped himself in a donation bin.

Earlier this morning, New Westminster police began receiving calls of a man screaming on Quayside Drive. When offers arrived on the scene, they noticed the screams coming from a donation bin.

It turns out the man had fallen inside while lifting the door.

“We don’t think [he was in there] very long. I think once he realized he couldn’t get out, that’s when the screams started. Right away we received calls and attended.” Sgt. Diana McDaniel told CBC.

Due to the bins security features, the police didn’t have the resources to free the man and called the New Westminster Fire and Rescue Services who used the Jaws of Life to open the donation bin and safely get the man out.

While the man wasn’t injured, the bin was destroyed by the Jaws of Life and will now have to be replaced. The man will not be charged with damaging property as he technically isn’t the one who damaged it according to police.

Just last August, a Vancouver man also trapped himself in a donation bin after deciding to crawl inside.
