Team Italy’s firework finale performance this past Saturday, gave the team the edge it needed to surpass team Vietnam and Brazil and land itself the win at the 22nd annual Celebration of Light fireworks festival!
The arrival of a winner in the Celebration of Lights has changed this year, as a panel of judges and a public web vote helped secure Italy as the champs, where as before only a panel of judges would determine the winner. Of the 7000 votes accumulated online, Italy won 2,400 of them, putting them only 130 votes ahead of Brazil.
Patrick Bault, Celebration of Light producer announced on their website that Italy deserved to win due to their use of colour and choreography. Due to the festival’s new format, which seeks three new countries each year to compete for three years, Italy won’t be back to perform until 2015, where they will battle it out in the sky agains’t 2013 and 2014’s winners!
