Inside A Van With A Vancouver Indie Artist: Michael Averill (Video)

Inside A Van is 604 Now’s latest series in collaboration with Indie Vancity. This week, we bring you a live performance from Michael Averill, a local Vancouver artist.

Michael Averill is a Canadian Troubadour who wraps riveting and inspiring stories of serendipity in well-traveled Folk, Roots and Blues.  He combines groovy/percussive guitar work and philosophical wordplay into a “captivatingly” musical experience.

To get to know Michael on a more personal level, we threw the following random questions his way:

Most extreme sport undertaken: 3 way tie between 400 meter Hurdles, Skydiving, and snow bowling…

Your teenage angst anthem: Santa Monica by Everclear

Name of favourite imaginary friend (past or current): Koala

Favourite local comfort food: Any pizza from Corduroy

If you were a cake, what cake would you be: Angel Food

Most exciting imminent musical adventure: Recording with a full band for the first time, and continued walking tour of Canada.

Looking to watch Michael live? He has an opening gig for the Royal Foundry on April 1st at the Acoustic Emporium in Chilliwack, a full band gig at Luke’s (Granville and 14th) on April 8th, and Vancouver Folk Song Society Feature on April 20th (70th/Oak – Friends Meeting Hall). Follow him on Twitter for more details!
