Get Acquainted With An Eco-Diva; Garcy FryGarcy Fry, 30, has always had a passion for makeup. Two and a half years ago, her and her mother, Charlene, took this passion and turned it into a business. This pregnant mother of two has her hands full, yet puts as much passion and work into her personal life as she does with her business, Eco Diva.

604 Now’s Megan Renaud got a chance to catch up with Garcy to discuss her company, and find out what the future holds for the impressive beauty products.

Can you tell us a little bit about Eco Diva?

Eco Diva in your one-stop online shop for the best natural beauty and wellness products, and a place to be inspired to make profound changes, starting with the products we put on our skin.

How did you get started with this company?

My mom had the idea many years ago but the idea was ahead of its time. 2.5 years ago she wanted to try and make it happen again so enlisted my help!

What is your background with makeup and products?

I have been a professional freelance makeup artist since my early 20’s. I knew there was a lot of questionable ingredients in makeup and beauty products but didn’t know there was nice and effective alternatives. Then when I became pregnant with my first child when I was 25, I took a hard look at all the ingredients in the products that I was putting on my skin because your skin is your largest organ and what you put on your body goes in your body. Thats when I really started to “Green” my beauty routine. I started doing research in non-toxic products and finding amazing products that didn’t have any harmful ingredients in them!

What is your aim with Eco Diva?

To inspire men and women all over the world to take better care of themselves and the planet.

What is your favourite experience through Eco Diva?

Connecting with men and women all over the world and helping them make healthy changes and feel more confident in their skin.

You have a great relationship with other local bloggers in Vancouver. How do you contact and promote each other?

Vancouver has a great community of female entrepreneurs who support each others businesses. I’ve been lucky to have connected with those women and build friendships with them.

How do you choose the products that you sell and blog about?

First we choose products that do NOT contain any of these ingredients: http://bit.ly/1C9Trjf

Next the packaging needs to be diva-worthy. It needs to be as beautiful on the outside as the ingredients inside. No hippy-dippy potions and lotions here!

What is your favourite product and why?

That is like asking me who my favourite child is. I can’t answer that question! I sell over 700 products that I love, so I can’t narrow it down to one. I’ll give you my top 3:

  1. May Lindstrom Problem Solver Skin Correcting Masque- goes on like mud, and after 45 minutes you are left with the smoothest, softest skin ever!
  2. Soapwalla Deodorant Cream – Conventional deodorant is so toxic, and natural deodorants usually don’t work and leave you smelling worse. But this one actually works! Keeps you pretty dry and leaves you stink free-even after sweating for hours!
  3. Kjaer Weis Organic Lip Tints. They’re made in Italy—enough said. These are pigment-packed, go on as smooth as a balm and give you a glossy finish.

You are all about giving back? How did you get involved with this?

We didn’t get “involved” in giving back, its just a part of who we are and who we’ve always been. Donating to causes we are passionate about is something we’ve always done so it naturally became a part of our business model.

Where is your favourite natural place in the 604?

Stanley Park. Beautiful forest trails, beaches and tons of people out enjoying nature!

What can we expect next from Eco Diva?

Maybe our own product line?!

Why do you think it’s so important to be green and sustainable?

Because our planet and the human race won’t survive if we don’t all make the switch.

What else do you want our readers to know?

You were made to radiate natural beauty!

On top of selling over 700 products, Garcy also blogs about the products that she has tried. If you are thinking of making the switch to “green” products, make sure to check out products on Garcy’s site.
