Throw on those shades, it’s finally going to feel like summer in metro Vancouver for the next seven days (at least).
The lower mainland will see highs of 28°C inland today, with up to 24°C near the water at Vancouver International Airport. According to Environment Canada, the UV index is set to 7, so it’s important to keep sunblock handy.
The temperature is expected to slightly dip over the weekend, but rise to 27°C on Monday.
Outside of a 30% chance of light showers on Friday morning, there’s nothing but sun in the forecast.

The region can thank a powerful high pressure system coming off the coast for the beautiful weather.
The sunshine will ensure some of this weekend’s events run as anticipated, including the massive Pokemon Go Festival at Stanley Park, Brewery and the Beast, and the Celebration of Light fireworks.
For those who prefer to stay indoors, check out the first ever Harry Potter Musical, or the Tragically Hip concert at Rogers Arena (if you can get tickets).
