Forbes; Hip Hop’s Top 5 Wealthiest in 2012

Despite the fact that record sales aren’t what they used to be, Diddy still manages to rake it in this past year, making him the wealthiest hip-hop artist of 2012, according to Forbes magazine. This is Diddy’s second year in a row, making it to the number one spot. Diddy made an impressive $550 million last year, pushing him one step closer to becoming the first billionaire of hip-hop.

What makes Diddy so successful? Well he’s a man of many talents, who has several different cash flows going on at once. First off, he’s got his record label, Bad Boy Records. Secondly, his clothing line Sean Jean. Thirdly, a partner ship with Ciroc vodka, as well his partnership with Blue Fame marketing agency. Diddy is even following Oprah’s footsteps and hopes to have his own network launched by next year.

Falling after Diddy in the Forbes list would be Jay-Z, who made $460 million, a lot of which is thanks to his successful Watch the Throne tour with Kanye. After Jay-Z, Dr.Dre comes in third, making $270 million, followed by Birdman raking in $125 million and finally 50 cent, bringing in a solid $100 million this past year.

Who do you think hip hop’s first billionaire will be?
