In mid-March, we announced Facebook was launching their first Vancouver office and was prepared to hire 150 new software engineers. Facebook stated the new office would serve as a training location for recent software graduates who qualified to work for the social-media empire. The location remained a mystery, but it was assumed Facebook would open doors in one of the two tech hubs downtown: Gastown or Yaletown.
Techvibes has confirmed that Facebook has signed a three-year lease on a 20,000 square foot space at 1555 West Pender (Pender & Georgia) in Coal Harbour. The location was previously occupied by Kasian Architecture.
This is a huge pick-up for Coal Harbour as it is already one of the most beautiful locations around Vancouver. Cactus Club recently just opened their largest location to date beside Jack Poole Plaza. Look for Facebook to draw more attention for big businesses in the water front area. The new office is slated to open later this month.
