Our Vancouver weekend events guide is your key to events & happenings this Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Here’s what’s happening in the city September 6 – September 8 2013. Don’t forget to check out our limo fleet to arrive to any event in style!

All Weekend

Mexico Fest
Experience Mexico in Vancouver at MexicoFest’s Fiesta Mexico Independencia, the biggest event taking place during the MexicoFest. This event has activities for everybody and it is open to the general public at no cost. Activities include: kids zone, Mexican food vendors, live music, traditional Mexican dances, business booths, cultural pavilions and more.

Vancouver Chinatown Night Market
Chinatown’s night market has something for everyone, including Asian handicrafts, fashionable gifts, and lots of food. The Market is also expanding in 2013, with more activities–including outdoor movies and ping pong–and even more food vendors than in previous years.

International Summer Night Market
Sixty-one food stands and catering trucks. 200 retail vendors (selling goods, phone accessories, clothing and toys). Parking fees are $4 per vehicle or if you’re ‘rolling deep’ there’s a ten-car parking deal for $25. No admission fee.

Richmond Night Market
80 food booths. 250 retail vendors. Free Parking. General admission is $2 while children under 10 and seniors over 60 get in free.

Vancouver Fringe Festival
The Vancouver Fringe is a celebration of theatre for everyone featuring more than 600 performances by 89 artists over 11 days from September 5th to 15th, 2013. The Fringe employs an “everyone welcome” selection technique—the Mainstage shows are literally drawn out of a hat, giving all artists a chance to participate. The Vancouver Fringe also features unique site-specific theatre where artists stage their work in the nooks and crannies of Granville Island, as part of the Fringe Onsite Program. On until September 15th.

Friday September 6

UBC Back to School BBQ
This years BBQ will take place on Friday September 6th from 2:30pm to 9:00pm on MacInnes Field located on campus. Besides the great food, their will be featured performances  by Felix Cartal, Current Swell, Chali 2na (of Jurrasic 5), The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer, and MGH! (Glorydays)

The Weeknd Concert
Shortly after fellow OVO member Drake released his 604 concert date, THE WEEKND has followed up and launched his fall headline tour starting with two shows at the Orpheum Theatre in Vancouver, British Columbia September 6-7.

Friday Night Perogy Dinner
Held the first Friday of every month, the Ukranian Church near Main Street on 10th does us all a favour by helping us gain 5 extra pounds of potato and sourcream. Cheap, easy and delicious.

Cops for Cancer Fundraiser, Dinner & Head Shave
Dinner, dancing, guest band Cause 4 Drama, and silent auction raise money for Cops for Cancer Tour de Coast 2013. VPD constable and first-time rider Karma Cosmacini will shave off her hair if she collects at least $5,000 in pledges.

Saturday September 7

In-N-Out Burger at the Langley Good Time Cruise
You’ve been thinking about it all year, and it’s back — In N Out burger is in Vancouver for one day only at the Langley Good Times Cruise-In, get there early and get a ticket because last year they sold out before the burgers were even on the grill. In n Out Burgers will be located in the casino parking lot.

Vancouver Luxury & Supercar Weekend
Each car on display is handpicked by the Concours d‘Elegance selection committee. Automotive enthusiasts of rare luxury supercars, vintage collectibles, electric/hybrid and concept cars will get the chance to view automobiles that are normally displayed only at select elite international automotive events.

Wesbrook Village Festival
The bustling boulevards of Wesbrook Village will be alive with family-friendly activities during the community’s third annual community festival on September 7th. Buskers will bring their beats to the streets, and musicians will take to the main stage with tunes that will appeal to all music lovers.

The Weeknd Concert

Summer Salsa Cruises
Three-hour tours of Vancouver harbour aboard the MV Britannia, with three DJs on three levels and complimentary salsa lessons. Mexican food available for purchase.

BFL Fight Night XXV at River Rock Casino
604’s Gary Mangat will put his 4-0 record on the line at the Main Event of BFL 25 River Rock Casino Resort.

Fish ‘n’ Sips
Naramata Bench Wineries Association presents a tailgate party featuring 24 wineries, seven restaurants, music, and free shuttle service to and from Penticton.

The Awesome Race
Similar to the hit TV show The Amazing Race Canada, A Loving Spoonful has launched a fun & fabulous event called The Awesome Race! Teams of two will take Vancouver by storm participating in easy but challenging tasks, detours & pit stops – with loads of prizes to be won! GRAND PRIZE: Fabulous Trip for Two (Value $2400) CO-SPONSORED BY APETITO. All proceeds will go to purchasing meals for men, women & children affected by HIV/AIDS in the community.

Sunday September 8

Food Cart Fest 
Each week over 20 food carts will be complemented by community markets, live music, DJs, craft food vendors, an OUTDOOR FLEA MARKET and kids’ activities. Food Cart Fest takes place every Sunday from 12pm-6pm at 215 West 1st Avenue (between the Cambie Street Bridge and the Olympic Village). The site is next to the Seawall and a short walk from the Canada Line’s Olympic Village Station, the Aquabus’ Spyglass Place Dock, and major bus routes along Broadway, Cambie, Main, West 2nd Avenue.

The Coho Festival
A family-friendly event that includes The Coho Run, The Coho Walk, The Coho Swim, activities for the kids, live entertainment, great food, and interactive learning about the environment, salmon, and other wildlife. The 2013 Coho Festival will be a near zero waste event, meaning that all possible materials used at the event will be recyclable, reusable, or compostable. The Coho Festival is held at Ambleside park from 11am to 6pm.

Vancouver Comic Con
Special guests include Jim Mahfood (Tank Girl, LA Ink Stains, Marijuanaman, Stupid Comics), David Crosland (Yo Gabba Gabba! Comic Book Time, Scarface: Scarred for Life), and Tyler Jenkins (Peter Panzerfaust). Donate a gently-used school-appropriate graphic novel for free admission to the show. Books collected will be donated to Vancouver schools.

Feast of Fields
Gourmet, wandering harvest festival at which you can taste the best of B.C. from chefs, vintners, brewers, farmers, fishers, ranchers, and food artisans. Event underscores the connections between producer and chef, field and table, and farm folks and city folks.
