Relive your teenage angst at this comedic reading series where brave souls share from their embarrassing teenage notebooks.
Teen Angst Night is produced and hosted by Sara Bynoe who has been doing this since 2000. That means Teen Angst Night is turning 19 years old! It’s finally old enough to attend itself.
Readers can share anything (poetry, songs, letters, journals, diaries, essays, stories, plays, lists, etc) so long as it follows these rules:
- The work must be your own
- You must have written it between the ages of 10-19
- You cannot be proud of the work you share. It’s best if you’re super embarrassed.
If you want to be a part of the show, sign up in advance through this form.
All readers get in for free, get a drink on the house, and get a plus one (free guest ticket – must sign up and be confirmed before the show).
The show takes place Friday, January 10, 2020. While doors open at 7 pm, the show gets going between 8-10 pm.
Bring your IDs, this venue is 19+. The venue is wheelchair accessible, but please contact the Fox Cabaret to reserve a table.
Advance tickets are $12 until midnight January 9. On the day of the show tickets are $15 and only available at the door until we reach venue capacity. It’s cash only. The event is always free for readers, but all readers must sign up in advance and be confirmed.
“But is it real comedy? It most certainly is. People love to laugh and there are many routes to arrive at that destination. Is it traditional? It most certainly is not. It’s not what the average person envisions when they think of comedy. But regular shows would kill for these kinds of laughs,” wrote the Georgia Straight.
This event is a frequent recommendation on The Scout List/ Globe and Mail weekend edition and The Georgia Straight’s Van Happenings.
