Join New Works’ at their first Dance Allsorts of the 2017/2018 Season on Sunday, October 29th, 2017.

South Asian Arts will be showcasing South Asian dance and live music, including special guest performers as well.

Narrated throughout by SAA Executive Director, Gurp Sian, the performances will take you on a dance and music journey, providing cultural insight into one of the world’s most rich and diverse cultures.

Dance Style: Bhangra

Bhangra dance is an upbeat, energetic and aerobic dance form that is traditionally performed to the hard-hitting, heart-pounding beats of the Dhol drum.

It originates from the Northern state of Punjab in India. In this workshop, you will learn some of the basics movements and technique of Bhangra, along with a bit of the history associated with the dance form as well.

By the end, you will walk away with a short Bhangra dance routine that you can perform anywhere!
