Rock Band U2 Makes Its Way To Vancouver On May 12th

The 2017 concert season is shaping up to be yet another big one.

The tour celebrates the 30th anniversary of their classic album The Joshua Tree. The album will be played in its entirety at each show, with the inclusion of one of a number of special guests including Mumford & Sons, OneRepublic, and The Lumineers.

The album was  U2’s first #1 album in the U.S., topping the charts globally including the U.K. and Ireland, selling in excess of 25 million albums worldwide. The project turned Bono, The Edge, Adam Clayton, and Larry Mullen Jr into superstars instantly overnight.

“Recently I listened back to The Joshua Tree for the first time in nearly 30 years… it’s quite an opera.  A lot of emotions which feel strangely current, love, loss, broken dreams, seeking oblivion, polarisation… all the greats… I’ve sung some of these songs a lot… but never all of them.” said a clearly nostalgic Bono.  “I’m up for it, if our audience is as excited as we are… it’s gonna be a great night.”

The Grammy-award winning band hail from Dublin, Ireland coming together in 1976. Their sound was heavily influenced by post-punk, but through the year’s has picked up many other influences while staying true to their origins.

Tickets for the concert in Vancouver go on sale Tuesday, January 17th at 10:00 a.m. on Live Nation.
