The Al-Jamia Mosque has announced that they will be holding a prayer vigil in Vancouver in solidarity with the congregations of the mosques in New Zealand.
This vigil and memorial service announcement comes after a terrorist attack targeted mosques in New Zealand that left 49 dead and 48 more injured.
According to New Zealand Police, the terrorist attacks took place at two different mosques on Friday, as Muslim worshippers were gathering for Friday prayers.
The attacks took place in Christchurch, New Zealand and a 28-year-old man has been charged with murder.
“This vigil and memorial service are a welcome space for Muslims of all denominations as well as people of other faiths and beliefs” reads the facebook event page.
The Al-Jamia Mosque-Pakistan Canada Association and the Coalition Against Bigotry – Pacific are holding the vigil on Friday, March 15th at 7:30 p.m.
Located at 655 West 8th Avenue in Vancouver, the mosque is a short walk from Olympic Station.
Organizers encourage everyone to invite their friends and stand together in solidarity after this tragic incident.
