The Powell Street Festival is back this year for more Japanese Canadian celebrations!
Started in 1977, the festival is the largest Japanese Canadian festival in the country, and the longest running community celebration in Vancouver.
This year, the 43rd annual Powell Street Festival takes place at Oppenheimer Park on Saturday, August 3rd and Sunday, August 4th, 2019.

- Yaletown Is Hosting A Food Truck Festival With Beer and Wine
The aim of the festival is to cultivate Japanese Canadian arts and culture to connect communities. New Japanese Canadian artists are featured each year, providing them a platform to display their work and gain recognition.
The Powell Street Festival society’s values include community engagement, artistic excellence, accessibility, heritage, and financial sustainability.
As seen in previous year’s, the 2019 Powell Street Festival will feature martial arts demonstrators, children’s activities, participatory activities, and of course, plenty of delicious food.
Whether you’re looking to try some ramen, or learn about the rich Japanese culture, you’ll find this all and more throughout the festival.
