The 42nd annual Powell Street Festival, Canada’s largest Japanese festival, is returning to town this weekend.
It’ll be taking place at Vancouver’s Oppenheimer Park on Saturday, August 4th and Sunday, August 5th.

The aim of the festival is to cultivate Japanese Canadian arts and culture to connect communities. New Japanese Canadian artists are featured each year, providing them a platform to display their work and gain recognition.
The Powell Street Festival society’s values include community engagement, artistic excellence, accessibility, heritage, and financial sustainability.

Powell Street Festival Activities
With so much going on over the two days that you won’t ever have a dull moment.
There’s dance, film, visual arts, martial arts demonstrators, an amateur sumo tournament, children’s activities, participatory activities, and more.
Additionally, there will be walking tours of the historic neighbourhood, craft vendors, traditional displays, delicious Japanese food, and much more.
