April marks the world’s largest environmental movement. To celebrate, the City of Surrey is hosting the largest Earth Day celebration in British Columbia: Party for the Planet.
The free event is entering its ninth year and is sure to leave a lasting impression given its lineup of attractions and festivities.
Party for the Planet will take place at Surrey Civic Plaza on Saturday, April 13th running from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Over the course of eight hours, attendees will find no shortage of activities to take part in.
One of the highlights this year is the new undercover Live Green World, offering environmental workshops, a sustainable marketplace, acoustic concert series and local vendors. The Live Green World will show visitors how to live more sustainably, and decrease their environmental footprint in the process.
For those seeking a thrill, there will be an Adventure Zone that includes a free zipline experience, rock climbing wall, and road hockey.
In addition, guests can look forward to enviro-bungee, the Surrey Parks display, and local vendors. Moreover, there will also be a plant sale offering native trees for $20, and plants for as little as $2.
For those with young ones, ensure you stop by the Library Stage for children’s performances, and the TD main stage for performances by Bobs & Lolo. In addition, kids can also meet and greet Big Bird and Elmo from Sesame Street.
As the presenting partner, TD and organizers will be giving away 1,000 complimentary succulents to Party for the Planet attendees.
Multiple food trucks will be on site situated in the Adventure Zone. Take your pick from:
