The Bell NBA All-Star Challenge presented by AIR MILES is making its way across Canada ahead of the 2016 NBA All-Star Game in Toronto, and on Saturday, January 23rd, the competition will make its way to UBC’s Point Grey campus with a special appearance by former Vancouver Grizzlies icon Shareef Abdur-Rahim

The NBA All-Star Challenge will take place inside the Student Recreational Centre, and will consist of three pre-qualifying activities:

  • Three-point shootout
  • Skill’s challenge
  • Slam dunk competition.

There’s no charge to enter the challenge(s), and winners will be competing for an all-expenses paid trip to Toronto for the NBA All-Star 2016, where they will get a shot to compete for the Bell NBA All Star Challenge national championship.

In addition, the NBA will be rolling out the full big-league experience at War Memorial Gym during the two Thunderbird basketball games, as sponsors Bell, Samsung, BMO, and AIR MILES will be distributing prizes and giveaways, and entertaining with interactive exhibits and performances.

To wrap up, finalists in each of the earlier competitions will get to show off their skills during halftime of the Thunderbirds’ men’s game against the Cougars happening later that day.

If you think you’ve got what it takes to compete in NBA’s All-Star week festivities, bring your game and head on down!
