Chinatown To Light Up With a 2 day Lantern and Dimsum Festival

A beautiful 2-day event is coming to Chinatown this September.

Families will be able to participate in the lantern festival which will feature beautiful displays, activities, food trucks, live entertainment and amazing dim sum.

The event will be held all through Vancouver’s Chinatown, along East Pender and its neighbouring streets.

The Chinatown Business Improvement Association along with the Vancouver Chinatown Foundation is bringing together Light Up Chinatown on September 11 and 12, 2021.

Light displays will be set up to illuminate the streets as entertainment is set to follow in the streets below. There will be a special performance by Goh Ballet, as well as a magic show by Rod Chow.

The purpose of the event is to celebrate the heritage of Chinatown and to feature local entrepreneurs and businesses in the area.

An opening ceremony will take place on Columbia Street at Keefer at 11:00 am on September 11.

It will feature illuminating light and lantern displays. In addition there are some amazing foods to be enjoyed, including:

  • Kam Wai Dim Sum and The Keefer Yard offering late night dim sum and cocktails
  • DD MAU has a Saigon Cocktail on Saturday and a pop-up brunch on Sunday
  • Chinatown BBQ and Beaucoup Bakery are doing an exclusive crossover with their Peking duck croissant
  • Jade Dynasty is doing a crossover with Juice Bar offering a multi-course Cantonese dinner, paired with organic wines
  • Bao Bei will be hosting a Sunday brunch event.
