Feline fans, this is the purr-fect opportunity to catch up on all your favourite cat videos from the Internet.
Hosted by the Vancouver International Film Festival (VIFF), the Just for Cats Festival is a feline-filled fundraiser for the Canadian Federation of Humane Societies and the BC SPCA.
Join other cat enthusiasts on Sunday, June 26th at Vancity Theatre to watch a 65-minute video compilation of the best and funniest kitty videos found on the web.
“June is cat awareness month across Canada and the festival is a great opportunity to celebrate our love of cats and to make a difference for those who are homeless and suffering,” says Craig Naherniak, BC SPCA general manager of humane education. “Cats are more popular companions than dogs, with 36 per cent of all of country’s households identifying themselves at cat guardians. On the flip side of that, there is still at overwhelming cat overpopulation crisis in BC.”
There will be tons of cat-themed merchandise available for purchase at the festival, as well as coupons to visit Catfe; Vancouver’s first cat café.
Don’t miss the ‘guest kittens’ who will be available on-site to help host the popular event.
One of the clips that will be shown is the ‘cat stuck in a vase’ video that went viral.
“Research shows that cat videos are good for us,” Naherniak says. “They boost our energy and improve our mood, and when we share them, we’re cheering others up, too. So why not come and enjoy them with family and friends while also supporting a great cause?”
