Illuminate Yaletown is ready to light up your February long weekend with a massive awe-inspiring light display.

The free arts and technology festival is transforming the neighbourhood into an immersive and interactive light exhibition, over two days.

Organized by the Yaletown Business Improvement Association (YBIA), the festival features games, installations and amazing photo opportunities.

“We’re very excited to bring Illuminate back this year, and for two-nights,” said Annette O’Shea, Executive Director of the YBIA. “Being able to showcase light art technology designers in a lively and bustling neighbourhood always makes for an amazing evening.”

So, visitors can expect the 1200 block of Hamilton Street and Bill Curtis Square (behind the Yaletown-Roundhouse Station) to be brightly lit and full of activities for everyone.

What to See at the Yaletown Festival

There is so much to see during the weekend, including some notable and new-to-this-year installations. That includes giant inflatable game pieces from Tangible Interaction, an immersive room and building projections by Go2 Productions and a neon jungle perfect for selfies presented by Hfour Productions.

And there will be an outdoor LED playground that will transform Yaletown into a schoolyard. Here, you’ll find swings, teeter-totters and more, for the adults who are young at heart.

Visitors can also relive the ‘80’s in an arcade, hosted by Soho Bar and Billiards. It will have all the classics like Frogger, Galaga and PacMan.

Illuminate Yaletown Olympics Tribute

Plus, there will be a tribute this year to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the 2010 Vancouver Olympics. Visitors can then expect Olympic ring lights and the Olympic podium, where you can take photos in.

“Guests can expect never before seen activations and some amazing virtual-reality experiences,” O’Shea added.
