One BC town is going all out this year to bring one of your favourite holiday tales to life.
Harrison Hot Springs is going to overflow with holiday cheer this year with a new winter light festival called Lights on the Lake, the Christmas Tree Trail, a Cabin Style New Year’s celebration and certainly not least, a Whoville-themed Village!
Whoville is of course a fictional town created by author Dr. Seuss, which appeared in the books Horton Hears a Who! and How the Grinch Stole Christmas.
Lights on the Lake is a Sasquatch-themed festival, sharing Harrison’s favourite ways to spend time outdoors. It’ll feature light displays that include the legendary, mythical creature hiking, biking, paddling, skiing, fishing, camping, windsurfing and more!
The Christmas Tree Trail will start at the Harrison Visitor Information Centre and Sasquatch Museum and takes you through the Village of Harrison Hot Springs.
It also looks like the new festivities will become a seasonal attraction and return every winter.
“We have designed a three-year implementation plan. Next year, the light displays will be placed around the lagoon, creating a wonderful 1.5 kilometer walk of visual magic, and Year 3 brings additional displays building on Harrison’s nature and wildlife themes,” says Robert Reyerse, Executive Director of Tourism Harrison.
Harrison’s winter festivities will kick off with an inaugural lighting on Saturday, November 24th at 5:30 p.m. Pre-lighting festivities include complimentary hot chocolate and treats, a roving Sasquatch, and a few other surprises!
All these winter festivities will be FREE to the public! Even better, Harrison Hot Springs is just an hour and a half drive from Vancouver.
