Transport yourself back in time this Christmas season at the Burnaby Village Museum.
This photogenic outdoor museum is a walk through the 1920s’ with an old school, church, ice cream parlour, and more. There’s even people in period costumes working at the shops or roaming around.
And, of course, there’s the star of the entire thing: the Burnaby Village Museum carousel!
But it’s even more special during Heritage Christmas.
“Enjoy the special atmosphere of festive lights and the traditional decorations,” the Burnaby Village Museum website reads. “Wander the Village and take in all the seasonal entertainment, demonstrations and activities.”
The Christmas festivities is open from Saturday, November 23rd to Tuesday, January 3, opening at 1 pm most days.
Some of its events include:
- The 12 Days of Christmas Scavenger Hunt
- Children’s Christmas Craft
- Carolers, live music and theatre performances
On Saturday November 30, you can join the event’s official launch. It includes a tree lighting ceremony and refreshments at 6 pm.
Heritage Christmas is free to enter and just $2.65 to ride on the carousel, which was made in 1912.
Proceeds from the carousel rides between 5-9 pm that evening are donated to the Burnaby Christmas Bureau. And Concord Pacific will double the donations that evening.
Here’s what it looked like in previous years:
