If you’re from Vancouver, you’ve probably been to the Bloedel Conservatory at Queen Elizabeth Park. Well now, you can help celebrate the glass dome’s 50th birthday, on Friday October 18.
The Tiki Night Celebration is a kickoff to its actual birthday in December. The event promises music by Robin Layne and the Rhythm Makers, appetizers, and signature rum cocktails.
“Bloedel’s 50th Anniversary is a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the Conservatory as a unique and cherished green oasis in the city of Vancouver, its history and its future,” states the Bloedel website.
The conservatory’s birds will of course be guests at the party as well. That includes an array of macaws, finches, and cockatoos.
While the dome’s location was originally owned by Canadian Pacific Railway in 1890, the city decided in 1966 to turn it into what it is today.
Over the last 50 years, it has taught children and adults alike about the tropical climate and the animals within it.
